HOME-COOKED MEALS FOR STUDENTS “Simply Supper”

College students are some of the most heart-felt searchers out there. Frequently in the realm of religion, those inquiries are met with inflexibly dogmatic statements, ultimatums, and even condemnation from “Christian” groups on campus. “Simply Supper” strives to provide a welcoming space for everyone by building a community based on Christian precepts, but without the proselytizing.

“Simply Supper” is a free, no-strings-attached, home-cooked meal provided to the students at Frostburg State University every Sunday evening, through collaboration with many area churches. Religion is only discussed if students bring it up first, as the event is premised on the belief that people will be attracted to Christianity first-and-foremost by Christians living our values of radical love, inclusion, and acceptance.

At its root, love is the most necessary ingredient for our faith. Doctrine, worship, prayer, activism, and the like, all grow out of our integrally Christ-centered community, and are not prerequisites for serving and loving one another.

MONTHLY WORK DAY

Able bodied volunteers are needed to help keep our Cemetery clean and looking good. We also do some maintenance around and to the physical church to include painting, putting on and removing the covers for our air conditioners prior to and after winter, trimming bushes and trees as needed, keeping drains open. This normally happens on the 3rd Saturday from before Easter through the end of October from 9 until noon.
